Surpriiiiiise!

Okay, I've now been typing frantically since April 1st, and have written 64 pages. 64! Count them (I know you won't)! And for most parts when I stop and read back a bit, it blows my mind. Not the page count, but what's actually written on the pages. When I started out I had a general idea of what to write, which is now nowhere to be seen!

- I had a theme, which is gone and has been replaced with something else.
- I had two very vivid characters - and very thoughtfully deliberated names for them - who are gone and have been replaced by two other characters (even though in the first part of the script, the original characters are still there. I'll have to replace them later with the new ones, but I'm actually allowed to wait until after Script Frenzy)
- I had a setting which was supposed to be a place where my MC (main character) wanted to get away from, but now she's doing her best to be able to stay!
- My MC was supposed to have a certain personality, but as her name, her looks and her apartment changed, so did she.
- Her family changed too!

Basically what happened is this:

1. The main story was supposed to be based around this imaginary friend who turn up, and encourages the MC to start taking different risks. This imaginary friend was supposed to be a middle-aged, fat man. In other words a complete disappointment as imaginary friends go. But at some point, the character now having taken his place in the script sort of knocked on the screen from the inside, going: "Uh, excuse me, writer. It's just that, uhm, first of all I'm a looot younger than that, much cuter, and soooo not fat. Also, I'm not so sure I'm actually imaginary. Oh, and I do have a name - it's Kasper, and I'd appreciate it if you used it. That's all. Eh, thanks for listening."

2. The MC - Amelia Cecila Johnston - did the same knocking, and our conversation went something like this:
MC: My name's Lyla Amelia.
Me: Uh, no, it's not.
MC: Uh, yes, it is. And my brother used to call me Lah-Lah Meelah when he was little.
Me: Wait, you have a brother?
MC: Yeah, keep up, will you? He lives in Chicago with my parents.
Me (making notes): Chicago. Right...
MC: And I do have a friend, you know. Cecilia, at the cafe.
Me: There is no Cecilia at the cafe...
MC: Oh, but there is. You just decided to give her my name.
Me: Oh, Lyla is Cecilia?
MC: There you go.
Me: This is too complicated for me.
MC: No, it isn't. This is you talking, not me.
Me: O-kaaaay...?
MC: Oh, and Kasper wanted me to remind you that he's a real person.

It's interesting when you've written nonstop for a few hours, then read back, and go "Whoa, I didn't see that coming!"

Maybe I'm finally going insane!?
