Epiphany!

The imaginary friend's name shall be Kasper! Oh yeah!

Or...

- I can have my character lose her job, and she has a lot of lengthy soul searching to do in order to decide on moving to... Chicago, where the rest of her family lives. Like they've asked her to. Again and again. And which she has refused. Again and again.

- She can sing a really long song, just for the hell of it (and for the page count - I mean, I'd obviously have to copy and paste the lyrics).

- Or - and this one is brilliant - Amelia and her imaginary friend can have a long conversation on the plot in Home & Away, like Thess and I have all the time! That'll take at least three pages, AND be ridiculous! And of course the imaginary friend (God, I have to find a name for him soon!) watched Home & Away, because Amelia does. Once she has explained what's going on, he'll be too curious to stay away, and after two episodes he'll be just as hooked as her! Home & Away can be the running gag I've been looking for (that, and how the imaginary friend keeps changing Amelia's ring tones, so that every time her phone rings, she gets totally embarrassed by a new song). Home & Away will be what Passions was for Spike in Buffy!
